Our Mission
As
ambassadors of Jesus Christ we are called to develop and empower
healthy and diverse leaders and communities of Christ around the
world through Spirit-led counsel and biblical teaching,
transformational personal ministry and the proclamation of the
good news of God's kingdom.
Our
Calling
God
has blessed both of us through the 30+ years since our coming to
faith with a biblically-based spiritual formation ministry that
has already taken us around the globe a bit in our service to
our Lord Jesus and His great people. Yet, we have been
significantly focused on staying at our pastoral post here in
Kansas City over the last 20 years as we have raised our rather
large family and sought to practically apply our faith in the
context of our local church and family life. (Our kids and
in-laws all love the Lord and are active in their faith and
church communities and our family is growing! Lisa married James
Hoskins on January 20th
and Sam will marry Caitlin Merwin this July 1st.
Wow!) We have learned a lot through this long and multi-faceted
assignment and believe that we have come to a stage in life and
ministry that requires us to reach beyond our local ministry
into new, and yet-to-be-discovered, arenas of service. We formed
Radius as a little ministry shell two years ago to help
facilitate, both organizationally and financially, what we
believe we are called to do beyond our local church. After some
necessary partial delay, we are now postured to launch out more
intentionally. It is with the blessing and endorsement of our
fellow church leaders that we have gotten into position for this
fresh outward thrust. *
Open
Doors
Radius has some
significant opportunities to serve the Lord--some already
happening and some at our door. We believe there is no way to
fully anticipate what God has in mind for us, but we are excited
about the journey and the God-Story that is unfolding in our
lives.

The Midwest
Ministers Fellowship (www.mmfellowship.org):
This is a wonderful organization with a big heart that seeks
to serve pastors, ministry leaders and congregations in our
four-state region. Michael has served on the leadership team
of the MMF (strictly a volunteer position for the whole MMF
board) for over 14 years. He spends a number of hours each
month serving in this capacity. One of the many things that
the MMF does is to help leaders and churches in crisis.
Pastors and their spouses are at risk in a major way and we
have a heart to continue both pre-emptive and
interventional-type ministry on behalf of ministers of Christ
here in our region and around the globe. The kingdom of God
cannot advance without healthy and whole church leaders and
leadership couples.

Retreat
Ministry: For a long time we have felt called as a couple to
somehow be a part of ongoing retreat-oriented ministry.
Michael serves on the board of a ministry called Freedom Fire
a Kansas City urban-based outreach that has discipled dozens
and dozens of inner-city kids in Jesus over the last ten
years. We are both close friends of the founders, Dr. Bruce
and Linda McGregor. They were recently given a wonderful
retreat property called Shalom in Mound City KS. We are
slated to help facilitate some of the projected retreats.

Serving on
Boards of Ministries: There are several other churches and
organizations for whom Michael actively serves as a board
member three local churches in Austin TX: Hope Chapel (www.hope.org),
Church of the Hills (www.churchofthehills.org)
and Red River Church (www.redriverchurch.org);
The Rock International in Kansas City (www.rocktribe.org).
Strategic
Alliances with Ministries: We have friends across the country
with whom we are linked in heart that are doing wonderful work
in spreading the gospel in profound and powerful ways.
Strategic Global Assistance (www.sgai.org)
has the best "leader development" strategy that we have ever
touched. Michael is in the process of becoming a mentor to
emerging church leaders in their international network in
addition to both of us ministering regularly into SGA's host
church, Living Faith Fellowship (www.lff.net).
SGA works mostly among the persecuted Christians in many
places of the world. We are good friends with Carl Medearis
who has wonderful lines of relationship into the thrilling
work of the Holy Spirit in the Middle East. We also have
ongoing partnership with the Grace Covenant church planting
movement
(www.gracecovenantint.com)
and Nations to Nations--a mission group founded by our dear
friends, Don and Julie Steadman, who have a fruitful work in
India and also an innovative relief work where Katrina hit.
Don presently serves as the missions pastor at Hillcrest
Covenant Church a great congregation here in KC. (www.hillcrestcovenant.org)
Most of these
ministries mentioned are compassion ministries that have a focus
on reaching the poor who cannot pay for our ministry services.
Simply put, we are relying on our network of friends, who
believe in us and our calling, to partner with us in both prayer
and financial support in order to answer this call from our
Father in heaven. Half of our ministry effort goes to (and
about half of our income comes from!) serving Metro Christian
Fellowship as a spiritual mom and dad (Michael's internal role
in Metro is Pastor of Spiritual Life). The other half goes to
facilitating the work of Radius (Michael's external title for
Metro is Minster at Large).
